Ownership costs for the C42 Ikarus

Since a typical sport flight pilots flies 50 to 100 hours a year, most aircraft spend a lot of their lives in the hanger. By joining a syndicate, the capital costs and annual costs can be shared, allowing you to fly a top-quality aircraft for an affordable price.

Under our scheme, you pay a one-off capital fee of £4000 for one of ten flying shares. At the end of four years, you must sell your share back to the club for £1. If you want to leave the scheme, the club will buy back your share. Its value will be £1000 for each full year remaining.

There is also a monthly fee of £70 to be paid by direct debit. This covers all the annual costs such as insurance, hangerage, maintenance, inspections etc. To encourage members to fly all through the year, it also includes one hour's flying time.

Extra flying time above the first hour every month is charged at £35, and that includes fuel.

The plane comes equipped with intercoms and radio. Owners will be expected to supply all other personal equipment, such as maps and kneee-boards.

Owners' only other costs will be annual membership of The Scottish Flying Club, currently £200 a year, and landing fees away from Strathaven.
