NPPL (M): The Costs

WE mention costs throughout the site, but thought it good to put a summary on one page.

 

Sportflight Scotland charges £229 per flying hour for flying lessons. There is no charge for landing fees, pre-flight or post-flight briefings, or instruction notes.

 

Flying membership of Strathaven Airfield Ltd is £30 a month, including VAT. Students must join after their third lesson. Membership includes all landing fees at Strathaven Airfield, use of the clubhouse and wi-fi etc.

 

Ground school classes for written exams or radio licences - if required - are £50 per hour. Written exam fees are £40 per paper, or £195 for all five. General Skills Test and radio licence test fees are by arrangement with the examiner. The current BMAA/CAA fee to issue your licence is £150.

 

A typical student taking 40 hours of flight training to prepare for their licence test will spend £9,160 on training, c£300 on club membership, £195 on written exams, £150 for the licence application and around £150 for their GST. That makes a total of £9,950.

 

Trial flying lessons are £199 for the Classic Experience and £399 for the Extended Experience.
